Dans l’atelier, je m’applique à des rituels, manières de provoquer des associations inattendues et d’infiltrer l’inconnu. J’articule des matières et des objets accessibles et anodins pour en extraire des images hybrides où l’étrange, le familier et l’intime se côtoient. Ces assemblages aboutissent souvent à des moulages réalistes d’assemblages de boîtes, contenants de toutes sortes, tissus, fils, cordages comme des indices de nos actions et des histoires enfouies dans l’ensemble des choses qui nous entourent. 

J’utilise divers matériaux, mais ici, l’argile plastique se prête particulièrement bien à la rétention des traces. Une fois cuite, elle fige les empreintes de l’activité humaine: ses quêtes, ses rituels, ses tragédies et bouleversements perpétuels qui traversent les millénaires. Les éléments que je façonne sont disposés selon un ordre variable, et leurs regroupements suggèrent une possible expansion. Ce sont souvent des ensembles modulables ou dispersés, donnant l’impression que tout n’est pas montré ou même, achevé.  De même que l’histoire de l’univers est une tapisserie infinie de connexions, je fabrique un corps changeant à ce ballet fragile du monde.

Empreintes d’Univers brings together sculptures created over the past two years, in a context of effervescence and change. Coincidentally, this new balance pushes me to shift my points of reference, my explorations intersecting with figures and synthetic diagrams of the universe, borrowed from science and philosophy across different eras. These representations attempt to grasp the fluctuating contours of space-time. They aspire to understand and translate, according to the knowledge of their time, all matter—living or inert—that form the multiple narratives of the cosmos. The goal is to discern an underlying order, a universal sequence, and if possible, offer an antidote to chaos.

 

Just as it is difficult to map the contours of the self, of creative thought, and of knowledge, my sculptures collect and rearrange material traces and scattered fragments to touch upon beliefs, and appropriate snippets of theories, in an attempt to perceive their ramifications and limits. I reorganize them into impossible scenarios—where the rational transforms into the playful.

 

In the studio, I engage in rituals—ways to provoke unexpected associations and infiltrate the unknown. I combine accessible, ordinary materials and objects to extract hybrid images where the strange, the familiar, and the intimate coexist. These assemblages often result in realistic casts of box assemblages, containers of all kinds, fabrics, threads, and ropes—like clues to our actions and the hidden stories embedded in the things around us.

 

I work with various materials, but here, the plasticity of clay is particularly well suited to retaining traces. Once fired, it preserves the imprints of human endeavor - our quests, rituals, tragedies, and perpetual upheavals spanning millennia. The elements I shape are arranged in a provisional order, and their groupings suggest a possible expansion. They are often modular or dispersed compositions, giving the impression that not everything is shown or even completed. Just as the history of the universe is an infinite tapestry of connections, I create a shifting body for the fragile ballet of the world.
